Driving holidays in Italy

I love all things Italian, language, food, culture, arts, people and the passion with which they face life. Italy is not perfect, but where? So in that sense, I decided to do something I always wanted to take a vacation in Italy.

I booked my flight, car rental and accommodation on the Internet and bought a CD to learn Italian for me to hear my car at home for four weeks before my departure. Knowing that thevery basics of the language that I did not want to find themselves high and dry in Italy if a disaster happened to me. I soon realized that I have a book or two to help me deal with my learning.

I landed at Milan Malpensa airport beautiful, if not a bit 'big and confusing. Trying to find the deposit of rental cars was interesting.

With all the documents ready for the machine it was time for transportation systems in Milan, the nose tackle is made-to-bumper traffic. The horror storiesItalian leadership had ears for the last few weeks, so I left to wait. It was discovered that there was nothing to worry about, but the traffic was no better or worse than the traffic in every major European city was a fine ride.

I went to Milan to Genoa and was in a small town on the outskirts of La Spezia, this is my base for the next two nights. The road to La Spezia was surprising twist, double turnPromotions, which was a pleasure to drive. I was by the time I reached the hotel exhausted, I shake my little world of Grand Prix highway for five hours and was. The highway in Italy is very easy to navigate. Is usually of toll motorways, the very affordable, clean and well-marked to do.

After two nights exploring the area on foot and relaxing it was time to get to a rented farmhouse just outside Siena. Backhighways for the day, but this time a bit 'much like race tracks so I drove at a constant speed more. After an hour lunch break I went to my destination, on arrival at the farm shortly before 4:30. The accommodation was wonderful, with cypress avenue, and was truly a postcard Tuscan farmhouse.

The accommodation was well maintained and in a nice quiet area about 12 km from Siena and about 4 kmfrom the nearest village.

After relaxing by the pool during the day, I would venture to Siena for a walk at night, a few beers and one or two ice cream. Siena is beautiful, with their outer walls keeps at bay the world for its beautiful historic buildings seem untouched by the modern world. And then there's the famous Campo in central Siena, in the place of business for the annual Palio, a medieval horse race held annually in July.

I really do not know what to expect from Siena, in a reflection Iwas more than impressed with its beauty and friendly atmosphere.

I spent the rest of the week driving through Tuscany, users from local vineyards buy some 'of wine and try as many local agri-tourism, which I could find. An Agri-tourism is a place where you can eat and drink, served in good standing for a certain price, a number of local courts, perhaps up to 1,213 courses in smaller portions. This will give you a really good feeling for the local cuisine. In general, allFoods are made up of local products.

I also knew trip to Florence by train to an old friend for a visit, recorded in one day, the Italian railway union decided to go on strike afternoon. All the fun in Italy.
Florence is a beautiful city, but I think it is, to appreciate it better if the temperature is not in the top 30 degrees and you can not move for snap happy tourists.

During the week it was time to move on the lakethe rest of the holidays. This has led to more than three ½ hours drive north of Bologna and Modena.

The lake was spectacular, and spectacular to do, but the city that we stayed in, Bardolino, it was wonderful. The days were spent relaxing by the pool and so the evenings were spent walking along the lake shore. I went in Bardolino in November last year, are currently developing a pleasant evening stroll around the coast, even without the improvements, it wasfantastic.

The only other place I visited was an excursion trip Arena in Verona, home of the Romans, the trip was willing to stage an opera in the open air on the balcony of Juliet (Romeo and Juliet), shops and some fantastic beautiful architecture.

Before I knew it was time to take back Malpensa to head with the car to a home on the plane. The Italian language I learned useful occasionally occur, but it was more to my satisfaction, had a go atlanguage, can easily be much less aware of the language.

The guide was great, I recommend it wholeheartedly. It's really something much more from your vacation if you check every day and is released as that day.

And finally, Italy.

I've never been disappointed yet except that I've ever had in Italy and this trip was not. Milan, La Spezia, Florence, Siena, Lake Garda, Bardolino and Verona, and all TuscansLandscape and the outlook for travel around, all the memories will remain with me for many long years.
