Our trip to Italy and Spain started with a trip to Portland. A small group of Rotarians and especially spouses traveling from Tacoma to Portland for two nights. Early Friday afternoon we went south on Amtrak, left on Fifth Avenue Suites, watch live performances (theater, improvisation and legitimate). Last Sunday we checked out the hotel and wait for the train back to Powell's Book Store.
As we sat in the cafeteria of Powell, we talked aboutLeave us and where you love. Tuscany was universally popular choice. Someone said they had heard that if you rent a house, it was not very expensive. I went home and searched the Internet. It was true. Many of the villas I found out when it was relatively low prices of several couples shared. One of the characters have come to show that if I paid for three nights in a hotel in Portland, I would have more than my share of a villa for aWeek. I shared the information. Under these conditions, we mean it. We knew it was a holiday in Tuscany can.
Our first group of six couples. Four couples attending Rotary. A couple were neighbors of a Rotarian, and other friends were with a couple of Rotary.
Our program took a year and a half. We lost a couple who wants to share with us the next time we are. . . and we will. One of our greatest joys of the holiday in Italy and Spain, friendship. Toalmost 18 months we have purchased all the collected information and books on Italy and Spain, Hotel sprayed barrowed Internet printouts of villas and booked appointments made reservations and ate Italian food together about every two months. A pair would be a meeting hosted and would like to make decisions on the rice, wine and dinner. Then a month later, a couple will host a dinner.
With the inclusion of all the planning and execution of the decision, each has been an activeThe participants in this adventure. We had fun for a year and a half to the trip even started, for five pairs, took another two and a half weeks in Italy for three couples, it took another week and a half in Spain. What could be better than us memories, experiences and friendships that can last a lifetime.
There were a couple of strange things that happened in Spain. For some reason I stopped drinking wine and beer appear. It was notuntil they are returned to the United States that I realized I never drank a glass of sangria. None of us has. This is outrageous. When you visit Spain, you should have at least one glass of sangria. Also, while I preferred the Italian cuisine of Spain on Spanish tapas fare, two of my three favorite dishes are traveling. In a restaurant on the main street of Las Ramblas in Barcelona, I had a gazpacho with scallops sautéed Mellon, which was absolutely wonderful. My other favorite was a Spanish courtSalad of smoked salmon in Barcelona, I eat every day. The strangest food I had in Spain were, fried sardines. You could not really have sardines, but they were thin and long as my little finger. They were shocked and cooked whole. Here's how we ate. With a little bit 'of lemon juice was very tasty. My favorite Italian meal was the original fare of the peasant soup with tomatoes and bread crumbs. Of course, my list goes on of Italian dishes, which Iloved.
Everybody's favorite place (outside of the house, Castello di Pastine - http://www.pastine.it/) was Venice. Eveyone had their personal favorite places, but as someone whose whole city shook his head affirmatively. Our worst moment in Italy and Spain, car hire problems. My favorite place in Spain was Sagunto. Almost everyone agrees that even though Barcelona was likely favorite of all a place to live in Spain.
The main thing that Imissed by Italy and Spain, the orange juice freshly squeezed. E 'was more common in Italy and was mostly blood oranges from Sicily. I ordered at every meal, I could. In Italy, were combined with a mixture of vegetable juices them a. My favorite carrot juice, orange juice was a base mix with other citrus juices and absorbed. Back in the States, I tried a couple of would-juice combo, but nothing is coming.
One couple, the originalnot to travel all the others have been invited to the feast of the village, where we have all the invoices submitted and paid for each. It was still a party, but. There were grilled steaks and beer and wine and the inauguration of the folly of Rob, as a work of art in glass, which he bought in Murano, on his thirtieth birthday party calls. His wife loves him. . . so ha.
What is really interesting is the change of the journey of our people. Some of them expressed the view that this is aonce in a lifetime and travel time, which would never go back. Well, most of the group is considering hypocritical back already.
It is said that the journey to change anyone. You must be right.
You had in my opinion wonderful year and a half planning a trip to italy and spain. I think that planning a trip is very important and interesting part of the trip itself and you made it in the best way. I also enjoyed reading your trip description and conclusions.
